I've been doodling in the margins of meeting agendas and lecture handouts since I was a teenager;
it's a natural human impulse to give meaning to what we see and hear by adding our own reactions, especially
things we are reminded of as we listen to or watch someone else's content.
For the last 12 years I've been working in local government and I go to a lot of meetings. My personal notes became more colourful, more visual, less written and more sketched over time until I found I was often drawing full mind maps with smiley faces and speech bubbles.
The defining moment, was when I bought myself an iPad. I downloaded about 50 apps, as you do, and played with them all before deleting all but the best 10. I settled on a simple digital ink programme for my note taking, and the style you see here is the result.
